Administration

Hello! 

I was born and raised in Houston, TX. I used to live in Houston's downtown area, but I recently moved to Shepherd, Tx. I have three younger brothers and one dog that I love very much. On my days off, I love to read, watch movies, spend time with my family, and travel. 

 I attended the University of Houston-Downtown and obtained a bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education EC-6. I then attended ST. Thomas University and obtained a Master's in Educational Diagnostician and my Principal Certification from  Lamar University. 

I am super excited to be the principal at Tavola Elementary. I am beyond blessed with the opportunity to be here and work with wonderful teachers, staff, and amazing students. 

I am excited to serve as the Assistant Principal and begin an awesome year at Tavola Elementary! I have enjoyed being with New Caney ISD - serving as a Dual Language teacher, Multilingual Instructional Coach, and Administrator.

I was born in Texas, but raised in Latin America (Honduras & Ecuador). I am bilingual. I have a passion for cultures and a deep appreciation for language. My goal is to support all diverse student populations and foster strong relationships with parents, staff, and the community. I am committed to excellence and student success. I believe that every child deserves high expectations, strong support, and a school culture that celebrates both academic and personal growth.

As a first-generation college student, I am a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University, obtaining the following:

Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Bilingual Education 
Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction
Principal as Instructional Leader Certification 

On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new coffee shops, traveling, or riding my motorcycle.

My name is Jennifer Petross, and I am thrilled to be a part of the administrative team at Tavola Elementary! My goal as an administrator is to support and build relationships with all stakeholders, students, staff, and parents to ensure the best educational experience possible. We are here for you!

This is my 19th year in education, and I have served as an elementary teacher, district instructional coach, and assistant principal. I am a Texas State Bobcat, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Social Work. I earned my graduate degree in Educational Leadership in 2010 from Sam Houston State University.

I am originally from Central Texas, and moved to Houston in 2006. I enjoy going to concerts, reading, running, spending time with my family, and all things Houston Astros! My husband Nate and I live in the New Caney community with our three amazing kids.

I have no doubt it’s going to be a FANTASTIC year! I genuinely look forward to serving you this year! Go, Timberwolves!
